It’s no secret that Ryan and I have been talking about moving into a bigger, single family home (ours is a twin). And while I’d be sad to leave our first house, because it really is a cool space; it’s time to move on. We recently looked at a house in our town, that happens to be next door to my sister-in-law (how cool would that be?!)….and I pretty much love it! It’s not a style of home that I would have ever chosen, or thought that I would like….I’m not a fan of rancher style houses. But this place? There’s so many more positives than negatives. A huge updated kitchen, a gorgeous mater with it’s own bathroom, a yard that is four times the backyard we have now (it even has an amazing space off to the side for my vegetable garden!) not to mention so much room to build on + really make the house our own.
But, my absolute favorite part of the whole house is the basement. The basement extends the length of the house, and is completely finished. Not only is it finished, but it’s been separated into different (pretty large) rooms – there’s an office area, a play room for the kids, a laundry room, and a room that will be Ryan’s dream space. The media room. Myself on the other hand, I have big dreams for a few other rooms in the basement. I want my dream laundry area (which this house has the space for)….but my big dream? The space I want the most? The office/reading room.
It’s also no secret that my ultimate goal in life is to really have my photography business take off. That one goal is my passion, and a dream I’ve had for years. In order for that to happen though, I need my office space. And I don’t want it to be just another office in the basement. I have big ideas for this room. I want it to be a cozy, warm, inviting work space for me. But not only a work place, I want it to be a sanctuary of sorts. A place that I can not only work, but cozy up with a good book. I want it to be colorful, but warm at the same time. I’ve been pinning like a mad person on Pinterest for a while now, but lately my mind has been overactive with thoughts of that space. When Ryan and I decided that we were 95% buying this home when it goes on the market in a few months, I started making up story boards, and color schemes, and picking accents. Overactive mind, remember? Here’s what I’ve thrown together so far….
So that’s what I’ve got…of course, there will still be a ton of ideas + planning….we haven’t even bought the house yet, haha! But we’re working on it, and I can’t wait.
Do you plan on moving anytime soon? Have you been looking at houses like Ryan + I? If so, I know that Umovefree complaints are practically non-existent. Give them a try!
